An emotional message for Dad
If you are lucky enough to still have a Dad in your life, don’t wait. Tomorrow is not promised – and if it’s worth sharing, it’s worth sharing now. An emotional message for Dad is a wonderful gift for Father’s Day and beyond.
“I love you”
You may think it, feel it, even demonstrate it in your own way. But, bottom line, you need to say the words out loud.
He’s probably not perfect, but he’s your Dad. Take the time to share with him a few specific examples from your childhood for which you are grateful.
“I’m so proud to be your child!”
Tell your dad why you appreciate being his child. Think about how his accomplishments, large or small, and how others in the community view him. For better or worse, you are who you are in part because of his influence in your life.
“This is what I learned from you”
Did Dad teach you to make paper airplanes? Or to drive? What about patience, integrity and/or the value of hard work? Did he teach you to be a parent yourself? Whatever it is, make sure you tell him.
“I want to hear details of your life”
Dad has stories and probably lots of them. Let him know you’re interested. You might be amazed what new things you find out about his life, especially from when he was young. Plan a time to visit when you have a chunk of uninterrupted time to listen.
Happy Father’s Day to all the Dad’s out there! If your Dad is not around any longer, reach out to someone else’s dad, uncle or friend. Let them know you appreciate their contributions to your life. He may not know how you feel and you will make his day.
