Event Details
Lost + Found explores spaces and places that have undergone preservation, repurposing, demolition, neglect, or have been forgotten over time 5:30-6:00 Reception 6:00-7:30
Event Details
- 5:30-6:00 Reception
- 6:00-7:30 Gallery Talk and Q&A
In spring 2010, a popular feature of AIA Dallas’ Columns magazine debuted: Lost Dallas, later to become Lost + Found. The goal was to “examine structures that are no longer on the scene as a result of natural disaster or the wrecking ball of ‘progress,’ or those that have been saved from the latter.” The articles would seek to provoke memories of the sites that were lost and educate readers about the importance of preserving historic places.
This exhibition, presented by Norman Alston Architects, seeks to share the rich and unique histories of these locations through the perspectives of diverse experts, incorporating archival materials that showcase their past alongside photographs of current conditions of these places. Many of the projects previously featured in Lost + Found since it debuted in 2010 have noteworthy updates to share – some as success stories, while others recount tales of loss.
Join us at the AD EX to learn more about the places featured in the exhibition, as well as the state of preservation in Dallas.

20dec12:00 PM1:30 PMAD EX Fair Park Tram Tour

Event Details
Join us for a motorized, open air tour of the park while we fill you in on its amazing past and talk about its exciting future.
Event Details
Fair Park, a celebration of art, architecture, and industry, is a cultural and historic gem in the heart of Dallas.
Architecturally, Fair Park is one of the world’s largest collections of Art Deco buildings with a unique design approach that Chief Architect George Dahl described as “Texanic.” Integral to the buildings and the grounds are numerous works by renowned artists that celebrate the history and achievements of Texas during the first 100 years of independence. First established for the Dallas State Fair in 1886, Fair Park was transformed in 1936 for the Texas Centennial Exposition. It is one of Dallas’ greatest cultural assets, hosting events year-round and exhibitions and serving as home to numerous cultural institutions. In 1986, it was recognized as a National Historic Landmark.
In partnership with Fair Park First, the Dallas Architecture and Design Exchange presents hour-long lunchtime tram tours on the third Wednesday of the month at several times throughout the year. The tour begins at noon at the Parry Street entrance gate adjacent to the DART stop.
