What’s better than fish and chips The answer? Fish and chips made in the air fryer without all the oil and calories!

I recently purchased an air fryer. Though skeptical, I heard fish is good when “fried” in an air fryer, so I gave it a try. The result was a much healthier version that tasted fried and quite delicious! Flaky and moist with a golden coating. It’s now one of our favorite ways to prepare cod, and we serve it with french fries (a.k.a chips), also air-fried.

INGREDIENTS
1 lb. cod, cut into 4 strips

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 c. all-purpose flour

1 large beaten egg

2 c. panko bread crumbs

Lemon cut into wedges, for serving

Tartar sauce, for serving

airfryer fish

DIRECTIONS

Pat fish dry and season on both sides with salt and pepper. Place flour, egg and panko in 3 shallow bowls.

Coat each piece of fish first in flour and then in the egg.  Finally press into the panko breadcrumbs covering completely.

Place fish in the basket of the air fryer – you will probably need to do 2 pieces at a time. Cook at 400 for 5 minutes, then gently flip over and cook for 6 minutes longer or until fish is golden brown and easily flakes with a fork.

Serve with lemon wedges and tarter sauce.
