We all know it’s true because we see it in the faces we make when we stand up too fast, the way that afternoon nap calls a little louder, and the fact that our favorite pizza, while still delicious, now comes with a side of heartburn: our bodies change when we hit that 50-year mark! But just because our bodies begin to change does not by any stretch of the imagination mean that we can’t still enjoy all the things we love… we just have to plan a little more carefully and exercise a little more caution sometimes.
Take preparing for a vacation, for example, the flight or flights specifically. Circulation can be a problem, the air in the cabin is recycled and drying for mature skin, sleep schedules can be interrupted…there’s a lot to consider, but luckily, we’ve considered it all for you! Here’s everything you should do and plan for to make sure that your next flight, be it for business or pleasure, is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Choose The Right Flight
Set the stage by choosing the best flight on the best and most comfortable aircraft you can. No, we don’t mean first class: we mean a step up from that. When you choose to charter private plane travel, you’re pampering yourself with the most luxurious flight you could ever imagine.
To begin with, you won’t be on your feet for hours queueing up to drop off your checked baggage because private airlines have private check-in areas and private boarding gates in a real display of customer-centric travel. If you’re using a private airport, your experience will be even faster and smoother!
Private jet rental aircraft are expertly cleaned, so they are pristine when you board and feature expansive, plush seating. What’s more, there’s no chance of catching something unpleasant from a neighbor who coughs without their hand in front of their mouth because the cabin crew would never behave like that, and the only other people in the plane are with you. Larger aircraft even have bedrooms and bathrooms, so consider these as options for longer flights.
Comfort is KEY on any flight, but especially on longer ones. Since the only people in the cabin will be you and your party, get up every 45 minutes and take a lap or do some mild stretches to keep that blood flowing. Use of compression garments wouldn’t go amiss either! If you are prone to lower back issues, let the airline know ahead of time. They will likely be able to provide supportive pillows and accessories so you feel completely comfortable.
Have a Pre-Flight Health Plan
Your in-flight health and comfort also depend on how well you prepare your body ahead of time. Firstly, hydration is very important and often neglected. Begin hydrating with electrolyte solutions of drinks and water the day before. Remember to drink plain water regularly on the flight. Look after your skin’s health and comfort by bringing along hydrating masks to keep your face smooth and stunning (this goes for the fellas too!) all vacation long. You’ll be encountering lots of strangers on your trip, and you don’t want to come home with their summer cold.
If you take supplements or chronic medication, be sure to have all your daily pills labeled and stored in a pill box for easy access. It may also be a good idea to let your doctor know that you are planning a trip so that, should there be any issue with your medication, they are available by phone or email to help resolve it. Even though private jets and their staff are meticulous in terms of health and cleanliness, some immune support boosters never go amiss!
Part of health is comfort, so take our advice and dress in soft, but structured garments that flow nicely and allow room for movement even when seated. Wear layers to compensate for a cooler temperature on the flight (which can also be adjusted), and you’ll feel and look wonderful.
Choose The Right Meals and Snacks
Enjoy lighter, protein-focused meals before you fly for easy digestion and a strong, nourished body while you’re in the air; your body will thank you when you land, and you still have some energy left. Ask for the cabin to be stocked with snacks that have anti-inflammatory properties, such as dark chocolate, nuts, berries, and herbal tea. A glass of champagne or a cocktail won’t kill you, but minimizing alcohol intake means minimizing dehydration and headaches.
Plan For Your Arrival
Planning for the arrival part of your flight will be another advanced step that your body thanks you for. Many private jet charter companies have concierge services that can assist with car or helicopter transfers from their airport or strip to your terminal destination: book one of these. Just trust us. A car will be waiting at the airport to whisk you away without you ever having to lay hands on a single bag or use a single app. No wasted time, just go straight to your hotel for a nice bath and a long nap before taking on your exciting vacation destination.
Nothing Left But To Enjoy
Treat yourself to comfort, well-being, and style next time you take a vacation. Keep our tips in mind, and you’ll arrive feeling as fresh as a daisy and ready for a new adventure.
