White Wine Sangria With Seasonal Fruit

white wine sangria

Ahhh – White wine sangria makes a delightfully refreshing drink, especially perfect for those hot summer days! Make it your own by adding your favorite fruits and white wine to the recipe. The best part? It gets better the longer it sits, so you can make it the day before if you like. That way it will be ready for guests when they arrive!

You can make a non-alcoholic version too for a delicious treat. Simply substitute the white wine with a non-alcoholic one, or use a mix of white grape juice and sparkling water. Flavor with added fruit and a splash of fruit juice!

What is White Wine Sangria?

White wine sangria is a fruity beverage made by combining white wine with a variety of fruits. Sometimes, people also add a splash of brandy or other liqueurs, and a sweetener like a simple sugar. Usually, you serve white wine sangria chilled. Customize it with different fruits and flavors!

What Type of White Wine Works Best for Sangria?

We recommend a dry or semi-dry white wine for sangria. Popular choices include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, or Chardonnay. The added fruits and sweeteners provide plenty of sweetness, so it’s best to avoid overly sweet wines.

Can I Use Sparkling White Wine?

Sure, you can use sparkling white wine such as Prosecco to give the sangria a fizzy twist. Add the sparkling wine just before serving to maintain the bubbles.

What Fruits Can I Use for the Sangria?

Choose your favorite fruits! Apples, oranges, lemons, limes, berries, peaches, and pineapples all work well. Use a mix of fruits to add different flavors and colors depending on the season and your mood. Slice the fruits into bite-sized pieces to make them easier to eat.

How Long Should the Sangria Sit Before Serving?

Let the sangria chill in the refrigerator for at least two to four hours to allow the flavors to meld together. This will provide the best taste.

Can I Add Spirits or Liqueurs?

Certainly. Adding a splash of brandy, triple sec, or another liqueur can enhance the flavor. Generally, adding 1/4 to 1/2 cup of liqueur per bottle of wine is sufficient. However, you can adjust according to your taste preference.

What Is the Best Way to Sweeten White Wine Sangria?

Sweeten your sangria with simple syrup, honey, or agave nectar. Start with a small amount and adjust to taste. Another option is to use lemon-lime soda or another carbonated beverage to add sweetness and fizz.

How Far in Advance Can I Make the Sangria?

You can make white wine sangria up to a day in advance. In fact, allowing it to sit overnight in the refrigerator enhances the flavors. Don’t forget that you don’t want to add the sparkling wine or soda until right before serving to maintain the effervescence.

Can I use Frozen Fruit in White Wine Sangria?

Definitely. Frozen fruit works well and also helps keep the sangria cold. Thaw it a bit before serving to allow the flavors to develop.
