I enjoy yoga for a variety of reasons. It offers a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional benefits, making it a practice that is considered good for our overall well-being. But I enjoy it more when I have the right clothing. Yoga pants need to be comfortable and easy to move in, of course, but lately, I want pockets too. I love that so many brands include pockets in their designs these days, offering a new level of convenience.
Why I Like Yoga Pants with Pockets
I love yoga pants with pockets. And not just for yoga. There are many other reasons to sport these stylish, trendy and comfortable pants. For example:
Convenience
Pockets in yoga pants provide a convenient place to store essentials like keys, phones, and small personal items while you’re on the go or working out. This eliminates the need for a separate bag or carrying these items in your hands.
Functionality
Pockets add a functional aspect to yoga pants, making them more versatile for various activities beyond just yoga. Whether you’re running errands, going for a walk, or heading to the gym, having pockets adds to the practicality of the pants.
Hands-Free
Pockets allow you to go about your day hands-free. You can focus on your activities without constantly worrying about holding onto your belongings.
Minimalism
For those who prefer a minimalist approach, yoga pants with pockets offer a streamlined solution. You can carry just the essentials without the need for a bulky bag or purse.
Storage During Workouts
While practicing yoga or other workouts, having pockets can be beneficial. You can easily stow away small items like hair ties or workout notes. These pockets offer a great place to squirrel away small items safely.
Travel-Friendly
Yoga pants with pockets are often chosen for travel due to their convenience. You can keep your boarding pass, travel documents, or a small wallet easily accessible while navigating through airports or exploring new places.
Versatility
With pockets, yoga pants become more versatile for different occasions. You can transition seamlessly from a yoga class to casual outings without needing to change your outfit.
Persit Women’s High Waisted Yoga Pants with Pockets – Review
I am pretty picky about my workout pants because so many of them are see through, don’t stay put on my body when I exercise or are just plain uncomfortable. And the ones that do feel right are too darn expensive. And because I exercise alot, I need enough pairs to last 5-6 days, otherwise I need to do laundry mid-week instead of just on the weekend.
A friend recommended the Persist yoga pants, a brand with which I was unfamiliar. I found them on Amazon for $21.99 and based on the reviews, decided to order a pair. I’m so glad I did! These leggings are amazing and exactly what I was looking for.
When I first took these yoga pants out of the package, they looked tiny and I was sure they would not fit. But they did! The fabric is really stretchy, but go back to their original shape when I take them off. They wash and wear well too. They are high-waisted, breathable, a flattering fit and it’s easy to move around while wearing them. In addition, they are not at all transparent and definitely squat proof. Best or all, they are comfortable enough to wear all day and cute enough to wear out as leggings. I like the splash of color to look a little different than the plain black yoga pants I usually wear (I purchased the black with the leopard design) I really love the deep pockets that fit my phone, car key and more easily without any worry they will fall out. Why is it yoga pants designers didn’t think to include pockets before now? The pockets make the most perfect yoga pants that much better.
Highly recommend – not only for women age 50+, but for all women!
(Note to tall women – I am 5’2″ and these leggings were a little long, but not long enough to be a problem. However, I would guess that women over 5’6″ might find this brand to run a bit short)
Why Yoga is Beneficial as a Practice
Where do I start? There are so many reasons.
Physical Benefits
Let’s start with the physical benefits.
Flexibility
Yoga involves various poses and stretches that promote flexibility in muscles and joints. Regular practice can lead to increased range of motion and reduced muscle stiffness.
Strength
Many yoga poses require you to support your body weight in different ways, which helps build and tone muscles, particularly in the core, arms, legs, and back.
Balance and Coordination
Yoga poses often require balance and coordination, which can improve your overall stability and spatial awareness.
Posture
Yoga encourages awareness of body alignment, which can lead to improved posture. This can help reduce strain on the spine and alleviate related discomfort.
Joint Health
Gentle movements and stretches in yoga can help maintain joint health by promoting fluid circulation and reducing the risk of joint-related issues.
Pain Relief
Yoga has been shown to help alleviate certain types of pain, such as lower back pain, arthritis, and migraines, by improving flexibility, strength, and relaxation.
Mental and Emotional Benefits:
Stress Reduction
Yoga incorporates breathing techniques and relaxation practices that can help lower stress levels and promote a sense of calm and relaxation.
Mindfulness and Meditation
Yoga often includes mindfulness and meditation practices, which can enhance your ability to focus, increase self-awareness, and reduce anxiety.
Mood Enhancement
Regular yoga practice is associated with improved mood and reduced symptoms of depression and anxiety. The physical activity and mindfulness aspects contribute to these positive effects.
Better Sleep
Yoga’s relaxation techniques can improve sleep quality by reducing stress and promoting relaxation before bedtime.
Mind-Body Connection
Yoga encourages the integration of mind, body, and breath, fostering a deeper understanding and connection between these aspects of your being.
Self-Care
Taking time for regular yoga practice can be a form of self-care, allowing you to prioritize your well-being and take a break from the demands of daily life.
Other Benefits
Cardiovascular Health
Certain types of yoga, such as Vinyasa or Power Yoga, can provide cardiovascular benefits by increasing heart rate and improving circulation.
Digestive Health
Specific yoga poses and twists can stimulate the digestive system, promoting better digestion and reducing bloating.
Community and Support
Joining a yoga class can provide a sense of community and social support, contributing to overall well-being.
It’s important to note that individual experiences with yoga may vary, and the benefits may depend on factors such as the style of yoga practiced, the frequency of practice, and individual health conditions. As with any physical activity, it’s a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before starting a new yoga practice, especially if you have pre-existing health concerns.
